My Easy Everyday Makeup Routine + Holy Grail Products

My easy everyday makeup routine has become a form of self care for me.

I don’t always have a chance to do a full face, but I try to do what I can to help feel ready for the day. It’s amazing the difference makeup makes for me! It helps me feel more productive, more motivated, and ultimately ready to take on whatever insanity the day throws my way.

Here are the products that have become my favorite for my go-to, confidence-boosting, easy everyday makeup routine:

Face

Tula Blurring & Moisturizing Primer: This primer from Tula is my favorite for both full-face days and “no makeup” days. It does exactly what it claims to do – blur and moisturize. It really smooths everything out, plus it’s slightly tinted so it’s great to give my skin just a bit of coverage on days when I otherwise have a bare face. Really any Tula products are great, but I love that this one is great no matter how much makeup I’m adding (or not adding) on top of it. P.S. You can use code OLIVIAZAPO to save at Tula!

Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas Primer: Another favorite primer of mine is this super silky one from Tatcha. I love all Tatcha’s skincare, but their primer gives my skin a nice velvety feeling that I just love. Sometimes I’ll use it with the Tula primer above, or just use it on its own. It just depends on my mood! You can also get it in this stunning bottle, which is also available in a mini size for you to test it out.

I use a rotating pencil holder like this one to store my makeup brushes with easy access.

Tarte Face Tape Foundation: I love this foundation for super smooth, healthy coverage. It’s not too dewy, not too matte. I receive so many compliments when I wear this foundation – the term “flawless” has even been thrown out there (just saying!) Deal tip – Tarte offers great promotions on their site, so I like to shop directly from the source. I use a Morphe buffer brush to blend it in. Personally, I find a brush much easier to use than a sponge!

Powder foundation: If I’m doing a liquid foundation, I like to set it with a powder foundation for some extra coverage. I just grab whatever looks good from the drugstore, but lately, the Maybelline Fit Me has been my favorite.

Under eyes

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer: Speaking of… this stuff is amazing! You’ve probably heard how great it is, so I won’t bore you. Just think: great coverage, non-creasing, easy to use. Try it out if you haven’t already!

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder: I love this powder to set my concealer under my eyes! It’s lightweight and holds all day without creasing.

Brows

Tarte Busy Gal Tinted Brow Gel: I love this for my “no makeup” days. It helps outline my brows for me so I can actually see what to fill in. Plus, it makes my ever-so-blonde brow hairs that much more noticeable. I feel naked without it!

Anastasia Brow Wiz: If I’m doing a full face, I’ll fill in my brows fully with this brow pencil. It’s been my go-to for years! So easy to use and in the perfect shade (taupe for me,) I always end up coming back to it whenever I try something else. Pro Tip: You can get this duo that also has the Anastasia brow mascara for only $2 more than the pencil alone!

Anastasia Clear Brow Gel: This brow gel is my favorite for holding everything in place. Especially since I *ahem* haven’t had them waxed in a year, this keeps me from looking too Einstein-like (dramatic, I know, but true).

Eyes

Urban Decay Naked Honey Palette: This palette has become my favorite recently for its warm range of shades and easy use. The lightest shade is the perfect inner corner highlight, so it really helps brighten up my whole look. And I love that every hue I need is all in one package! Really, any of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes would be a great go-to. The Tarteist Pro To Go Palette is another on of my favorites because of how small, simple, and neutral it is.

Clearly, you can tell which shades are my favorite 😂

Lancôme Cils Booster Mascara Primer: Primer, primer, primer! It makes a HUGE difference in length for lashes. I just started using primer this year, and I’ll never look back. This one is my favorite. I notice a dramatic difference when I don’t use it (which these days is never!)

Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara: This has become one of my favorite mascaras (tied with the Hourglass one you’ll see next on the list). It has a huge wand that allows me to really coat my lashes, and it gives such a big dramatic effect. I get asked all of the time what I’m wearing, and it’s usually this!

Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara: This is tied for first for me, and I’ll switch it up based on what is available and what mood I’m in. I love this mascara because it gives length and really helps me feel like I’ve got extensions! (Oh, how I miss my lash extensions.) I do two coats on top of the primer and I’m good to go.

I love this robe to feel stylish while getting ready.

Contour

Yes, I know the guac is extra. Yes, I know contouring as part of an easy everyday makeup routine is extra. But it helps me feel more put together and personally, I like the confidence boost the framing gives my face. If you’re not a contour gal, you can skip this section! Here’s what I use:

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer: I love this stuff for giving my entire face a nice bronzed glow. Sometimes I’ll layer it underneath my bronzer, as a lighter base. Other times I’ll wear it on its own for just a general full-faced bronze. You can do so much with this bronzer!

Benefit Hoola Bronzer: This one is an oldie but a goodie. I’ve used this for years, and it still is one of my favorite bronzers. It is great for contouring but works excellent to generally warm up the face too. Plus, I like to use it as an eyeshadow on days that I’m in a rush. One less step to worry about!

Laura Geller Baked Blush: This blush is amazing because it has the natural shimmer of a highlighter built-in. It gives a warm, glowy flush to your skin that actually stays on all day too! I’ve talked before about how I need all the sparkle I can get, so I love to layer this blush underneath my favorite highlight (more on that next). I get the shade Tropic Hues.

Rare Beauty Liquid Highlighter: This liquid highlight is one of my new favorite things. It’s dewy, gives a natural glow, and is super easy to use. I LOVE a pigmented highlighter for helping this mama look more rested! The Mary Lou Manizer by The Balm is one of my holy grail highlighters as well. And all of the Becca highlighters are great for me too!

I apply highlighter to my brow bone, cheek bones, and the tip of my nose. I’m using an Anastasia Beverly Hills tapered brush to do so.

Lips

Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick in “Pillow Talk”: This lipstick is the most versatile lipstick for every day. It looks great on all different skin tones (Charlotte Tilbury is a great company for that!) and it matches well no matter what my look is that day. I like to get the complete set so that I get the liner, gloss, and the whole shebang. I have multiples of these so that I can keep them handy nearby!

This vanity desk is amazing for getting ready and storing makeup.

This may seem like a lot of products, so if I’m going for a “less is more” style then I’ll stick to the Tula blurring primer, Tarte tinted brow gel, Hourglass lighting bronzer, Mascara, and some clear gloss or chapstick. My easy everyday makeup routine is perfect for me, but make it your own! When it comes to makeup, where however little or however much you would like. Whatever makes you feel confident and comfortable is what’s most important.

A spur-of-the-moment photo taken at the end of this shoot that was too cute not to include. Let this be a reminder to take care of yourself so you can take care of those around you!
