California Coastal Home Decor Inspiration for 2021

Being in Southern California, we keep a California Coastal home decor scheme year-round. But there is something so reenergizing and NEW about 2021, that I’m finding myself constantly feeling the home decor inspiration vibe this new year.

Spring is my favorite season to decorate for. The first full season of the new year just has me ready to dive in! Plus, living in a warmer climate, it’s a little easier for me to feel in the spring spirit than during some of the colder seasons. I’ve found some great home finds for spring 2021 already, so keep reading to see some of my home decor inspiration picks!

Furniture

  • My California Coastal home decor inspiration always centers around styles that are simple, sophisticated, and clean. This coffee table from Hearth & Hand is just that. It’s a great base for you to add items that you feel match your personal style in your home. I love simple pieces because they give you the ability to dress them up however you want and change your smaller decor seasonally (or more!)
  • You can’t set up a living space without a comfy and neutral chair for lounging. Over the chair, I’ll drape this super soft throw blanket from Nordstrom. This blanket is one of my favorites – I have it in two colors! It’s smooth, warm, and the best part is I can just throw it in the washer and dryer (on delicate) when it needs a clean.

Tabletop & Storage

  • A woven drawer console puts a fresh spin on your typical buffet or entryway table. Not only is this one neutral and perfect for the warmer seasons, but it offers plenty of storage too!
  • This adorable cream-colored vase is perfect for a neutral accent to add some interest to an end-table. Pair it with the smaller, matching piece next to it to add some dimension and depth. They’re also functional and watertight, so you can add fresh flowers for a pop of color!
  • They may be ’70’s inspired, but beaded garlands are still so in. Create a casual tabletop look with the strand laying half out of a bowl (like this one) for a modern update to this style.
  • This dogwood branch arrangement is beautiful and the epitome of California Coastal decor. At only $25, it comes in the pot and looks way more expensive than it is!
  • No one likes clutter on a table or countertop, and these woven boxes from Studio McGee for Target are one of my favorite ways to control the chaos. We use them for keys, masks, and anything else that ends up floating around near our entryway. Pro Tip: if they are out of stock in your area, sign up for the notification for when they’re back in stock as Target restocks them regularly! That’s how I was able to snag both sizes.
  • Anthropologie candles add an extra cozy yet stylish touch to any space. Not to mention they smell amazing and are soy-based so they last forever. This Capri Blue candle is gorgeous, and you can even get a mini version of it! Play with a few different sizes in different parts of your space to tie the room together.

Artwork & Finishings

  • This print of sand dunes is so relaxing and immediately gives off the warm-weather vibes you crave from a California Coastal style home. It feels like I’m at the beach every day (sort of).
  • A mini rattan mirror adds a coastal, somewhat boho touch. We have these in the boys’ bedroom and love the subtle flair they give! Plus it’s always good to have mirrors strategically placed around the home for quick checks.
  • This wood draped bead chandelier is gorgeous and so unique. Not everyone rocks a chandelier these days! There is some assembly required, but it’s worth it.
  • The Olive Tree is the new Fiddle Fern for 2021, and this faux olive tree is still in stock! Put it in this bamboo plant pot for the perfect fit tableside or next to an entryway to warm up your space.
