Easy Ways to Find Fitness Motivation

With busy days full of taking care of tiny humans, it can be tough to muster up the energy to get in a good workout.

I’m often asked how I find motivation to work out every day, so today’s post will share my tips for doing just that! Keep reading for some inspiration, excitement, and fitness motivation for your next physical activity. Let’s do this!

Envision how you’ll feel after the workout.

  • Instead of focusing on how you feel before you start, or how tough it is to work up the energy to do it, picture yourself post-workout. Imagine how rewarded you’ll feel, how strong you’ll be, and how you’ll carry that energy with you throughout the rest of the day. I promise you I’ve never regretted a workout, but I most definitely have regretted not working out. Sometimes, you are the only fitness motivation you need!

View your workout as self care.

  • You may not be able to get the facial you’ve been craving, or a weekend away, but you can take 30 mins to move your body and take care of your health to feel your best. For me, working out not only takes care of my physical but my mental state as well! It’s like therapy for me and has truly become my “me time.” It’s an escape from daily stresses and a chance to push my body physically and get out the physical anxieties I’m feeling. When I need fitness motivation, I picture treating myself to that alone time. Nothing feels better than being drenched in sweat after accomplishing something you didn’t know you could!

Prioritize it.

  • Schedule, prioritize, fulfill. This is a mantra that I continue to repeat in a lot of things in life, but especially working out! I’ve become accustomed to prioritizing my workouts. I think of it the same way I would a meeting, a morning shower, or a nap for my kids. My kids get a couple of hours to reset every afternoon, so why shouldn’t I? I make the mental commitment, and schedule commitment, and I make sure that I fulfill that commitment to myself. I may have a sink full of dirty dishes, but I will get my workout in! Finding that fitness motivation starts with prioritizing what is most important to you throughout the day.

Try out different workouts until you find one that gets you excited.

  • Working out should be something that makes you energized and inspired! If you’re dreading it and truly don’t enjoy the type of movement you’re doing, then chances are that you need to try an alternative method of working out. Not a fan of HIIT? Try yoga. Feel stuck inside? Go for a long walk or a hike. There are so many different ways to stay active. It’s just about mixing it up until you find something that you want to do time and time again! The best kind of workout is one you’re looking forward to doing and can actually stick with.
Hiking is one of our favorite ways to be active while mixing up our routine.

Surround yourself with positive influences.

  • I get so much inspiration from following health-focused fitness accounts on Instagram! Whatever platform you frequent, make sure that you are seeing content that will get you energized and give you that workout motivation. That may be beautiful photos of the outdoors, or videos of easy at home workouts. Even yummy and healthy recipes on Pinterest can be motivating! Whatever it is, just make sure that it’s something that makes you feel GOOD, not bad, and that ultimately gets you wanting to get up and move that bod.

Treat yourself to some cute workout clothes.

  • Okay, so I know this one sounds a little vain. However, I truly feel more motivated to work out when I have a great set of athletic-wear on! I get a lot of my favorite workout outfits from Fabletics, or I’ll find some great ones on Amazon like this affordable duo here. Regardless of where you shop for athletic-wear, invest in some pieces that will make you feel confident, comfortable, and excited to head into the workout of your choice. Look at it as an investment in your overall health & wellness (now if only I could say the same for the rest of my wardrobe!)

Just do it!

  • This is a slogan for a reason. The biggest hurdle in getting into a groove with working out is to just start by forcing yourself to do it. There have been times that I’ve been slumped on the couch, feeling like I could fall asleep, and I put all of my focus and energy into just getting up. Then I put all of my focus and energy into putting on my socks and shoes. And then it goes into getting myself to the machines. And before you know it, my workout is complete and I’m feeling better than ever. Baby steps! But most importantly, just do it.
